To go faster, slow down

I saw this quote in a presentation at a conference earlier in the year and it just made so much sense. Taking a small amount of time to reflect, think things through and ask questions results in infinitely better decision making.

Hopefully you will have a chance to slow down over the holiday period.

If you like reading, here are three highly recommended books, the first a classic, the second a must read and the third just plain useful:

  1. The Leadership Challenge by Kouzes & Posner. If you want to read one book on how to become a better leader, this is it. (If you’ve already read it, it really is worth reading again!)
  2. Strategy and the Fat Smoker by David Maister. If you are interested in how to develop and implement strategy, then this is the book for you. Maister is a brilliant writer.
  3. Decisive: How to Make Better Choices in Life and Work by Chip and Dan Heath. If you want to make better decisions, then this is definitely worth a read.

Have a great break!
