To go faster, slow down
I saw this quote in a presentation at a conference earlier in the year and it just made so much sense. Taking a small amount of time to reflect, think things through and ask questions results in infinitely better decision making.
Hopefully you will have a chance to slow down over the holiday period.
If you like reading, here are three highly recommended books, the first a classic, the second a must read and the third just plain useful:
- The Leadership Challenge by Kouzes & Posner. If you want to read one book on how to become a better leader, this is it. (If you’ve already read it, it really is worth reading again!)
- Strategy and the Fat Smoker by David Maister. If you are interested in how to develop and implement strategy, then this is the book for you. Maister is a brilliant writer.
- Decisive: How to Make Better Choices in Life and Work by Chip and Dan Heath. If you want to make better decisions, then this is definitely worth a read.
Have a great break!
